Hello,

I was perusing Facebook Marketplace yesterday and saw a Fender Prophecy III bass for sale. I had never heard of such a model and found it very intriguing. I love natural wood finishes, neck thru construction, gold hardware, P/J pickups... basically everything about this bass. I had no idea Fender made anything like that so I started digging for information. After learning enough to determine this was a rare find for a great price I contacted the seller. They were selling it for an elderly gentleman that played bass at a church in the middle of nowhere, Arkansas, USA. He could no longer play and wanted to find a good home for it. I lucked out big time because he refused to ship it and it would have been a two hour drive for me to check it out but the seller happened to be working in my town this morning so I met him bright and early. I bought it for $800 - actually a bit above the bottom dollar they wanted... first time I have talked someone up on marketplace! This thing is beautiful and is in amazing shape especially considering its age. The only weird thing is that it is labeled Fender but doesn't have the normal Fender serial number - it is B93018 which doesn't match up with any serial numbers I can find. If anyone has any insight on that matter I'm all ears! I just wanted to document and share my find here. If anyone can shed some light on the serial number or general specifications of the bass that would be great.

First of all, welcome to the Heartfield community!

Based on the serial I can tell you it was made in 1993, in February. There are 2 'close cousins' in the serial numbers database.
