Well when I originally bought my EX-2 WAY back in 1989 or so the original whammy bar was missing for the trem and they gave me a chrome bar that didn't really look the part and was raised way high up off of the guitar. I used it for many years until I got fed up and decided to do something about it.
I bought the actual bar for the Gotoh trem they specced but it was still too high off the face of the guitar which tells me that's just the way they designed it.
I eyeballed a point where I thought it should be and used a pair of wire cutters to remove the excess from the post and now it works the way I always wanted it to.
